System Requirements
This software can be run on operating systems Windows 10 (64bit), Windows 8.1 (64bit), Windows 7 (32bit or 64bit) or Windows XP (32bit or 64bit).
Before installing this application, please shut down other applications especially antivirus software.
To check for the current firmware version:
1. Your RFS 2.2 remote is still in switched off mode.
2. Press and keep holding the "test" button of the RFS 2.2 device.
3. While still holding switch on the remote (on the right side of your device).
4. By using the scroll wheel, scroll down until you can read "c.fn-04 firmware".
In the last row you can read the currently installed firmware version (for instance v1.66).
Preparation
1. Make sure to remember the storage location of the files you are going to download now.
2. Download the firmware update tool, the camera brand specific update file and a USB driver installation tool under the following link (complete download package):
Installing the "broncolor Firmware Update Tool"
1. Execute as administrator the file "broncolor Firmware Update Tool.exe".
2. Follow the installation wizard’s individual steps, accept the End User License Agreement and, finally, click on "finish" in order to install the software.
Trouble shooting
Should you get the error message “missing USB driver”, please install the tool as administrator “libusb-win32-devel-filter” (you will also find it in the download package):
Install it with administrator rights and restart your computer after the installation.
You do not have to complete the steps with the devel filter within the tool's wizard.
Additional note from June 4, 2024:
When you reach the following screen, leave the box “launch filter installer wizard” unchecked and click on finish.
Open the only just installed "broncolor Firmware Update Tool". You could either click on the shortcut icon created on your desktop or you can open the Firmware Update Tool from within the applications list of your computer.
You should now be able to see the following welcome screen:
Prepare your broncolor RFS 2.2 remote
1. Make sure the device is switched off.
2. Press and hold the "test" button of your RFS 2.2 remote. While still holding down the button, switch on the device.
3. You should now see this screen:
Trouble shooting
Should you see the following screen, please repeat the simultaneous “test” key and “switch on” procedure, sometimes it requires more than one attempt.
4. By using the scroll wheel, scroll downwards until you can read "c.fn-05 firmware" in the display.
5. Click on “set” (i.e. press on the “LP” key).
6. Click on “update” (i.e. press on the “HS” key).
7. Switch off the RFS 2.2.
8. Connect the micro USB cable end to the RFS 2.2 and the other USB connector to your computer.
Do not switch on the RFS 2.2.
Please turn to the "broncolor Firmware Update Tool" software again:
1. Press the "Select File" button. An explorer window opens.
2. Select the corresponding firmware (".fri" file; Canon, Fuji, Nikon or Sony).
Select the latest file version available for your camera brand. You will find these files in the complete download package. The RFS 2.2 type must match your camera brand.
RFS 2.2 C = Canon
RFS 2.2 F = Fuji
RFS 2.2 N = Nikon
RFS 2.2 S = Sony
3. If successful, there will be a message "loading completed" on the software’s screen.
4. Click on “connect”.
5. Click on “upgrade”:

7. You can now close the tool by clicking on “exit”.
Your RFS 2.2 device is now up to date. Unplug the USB cable. Switch on your RFS 2.2 – it will start in normal mode and is ready for use.
Trouble shooting
Should the connection attempt fail, please do as follows:
Repeat the initial steps stated above to reach this screen:
Now, please connect the USB cable to the RFS 2.2 and your computer.
Then, click on “set”, followed by “update”. Follow the remaining steps.
Fuji GFX 100 II
Due to viewfinder issues, a new firmware file was released: The v1.05 will solve the viewfinder related issues.
Nikon Z8 and Z9
Should your Nikon Z8 or Z9 not work properly with your RFS 2.2 N device, please try to install this older firmware version: v1.6.
Several users have reported that this solves all issues.
