This section explains each available function of the submenu in detail.
Modelling light
Use the upper control to adjust the light intensity and the lower control to adjust the colour temperature.
Flash

In principle, all flash modes listed in the table below can be selected.
However, depending on the selected power (flash energy), certain modes may not be available. In this case, the unavailable value is displayed in grey above the white value.
As soon as the user has set a power level that is compatible with the originally desired mode, the grey value will turn white again and move back down.
The power can be selected freely at any time.
The resulting flash duration is shown in the centre of the bottom line.
t0.1 min (‘shortest’) | Shortest possible flash duration; for technical reasons, the flash colour temperature becomes more bluish. |
Opt +800K | * |
Opt +700K | * |
Opt +600K | * |
Opt +500K | * |
Opt +400K | * |
Speed |
In ‘Speed’ mode, the colour temperature is slightly cooler (+300K), but remains constant across the entire energy setting range. Only power levels 1.0 to 6.8 are available. |
Opt +200K | * |
Opt +100K | * |
Opt (factory setting) |
This is the default setting. Optimal colour temperature (daylight, typically 5800 Kelvin): Stelos calculates the flash duration so that the colour temperature remains constant across the entire control range. |
Opt -100K | * |
High-Speed-Sync (HSS) |
For outdoor applications. With High Speed Synchronisation (HSS), you can use Stelos with any camera shutter speed, even those that fall below the shortest sync time (‘x-sync’). The flash duration is fixed at 1/250s and the flash remains constant throughout the entire exposure process. In HSS mode, you can set the exposure so that the surroundings appear rather dark and dramatic – yet you can still work with a wide aperture and therefore a shallow depth of field. Only power levels 5.4 to 11.0 are available. |
* Please note:
The colour temperature of the set energy can be influenced upwards or downwards in steps of 100K. With reduced power, the control range of the colour temperature adjustment increases. Due to the direct dependence of colour temperature and flash duration t 0.1, this is adjusted automatically and certain flash modes may not always be selectable. In the submenu under 'More', you can also change the unit of the flash duration to 't 0.5'.
Timing
The set delay value corresponds to the time between the flash trigger signal (e.g. by radio transmitter) and the effective (visible) flash. The maximum value is 50 seconds.
A sequence is a series of flashes or the preselection of a certain number of flashes. The maximum value is 100.
Interval is the time between two consecutive flashes. The maximum value is 10 seconds. The value can only be edited for sequences of ≥2.
Pressing "Reset" briefly resets all parameters in this submenu to the factory settings (including alternate settings).
Studio / Sync
In this submenu, define how flashes are to be triggered:
RFS on | The trigger signal is transmitted by radio. |
RFS off | No trigger signal via radio. |
Studio address |
Set a number between 1 and 99. You must also set the selected number on your broncolor RFS radio transmitter. If you switch to a different studio address, you may experience unwanted flash firings or radio interference*. |
Lamp address |
Lamp address: The control range is 1 to 40. The broncolor RFS 2.1, RFS 2.2 and RFS 3 radio transmitter systems allow you to control several groups of flash devices (one after the other). The assignment to groups is based on the lamp address (this also applies to the bronControl app).
For more info, check out the relevant operating instructions: |
Cell sensitivity low |
Flash triggered by light pulse active. The photo cell sensitivity is low. |
Cell sensitivity high |
Flash triggered by light pulse. The photocell sensitivity is high. |
Cell off | No flash triggered by light pulse. |
*In the event of problems and undefined malfunctions of broncolor RFS devices, strong frequency interference may be disrupting radio communication between the devices. In this case, find a better location for your devices to avoid possible frequency interference from baby monitors, video bridges, microwaves, cordless DECT phones, WLAN or Bluetooth devices, or use a different studio channel.
If you set the same studio address on several broncolor flash units (and on the RFS radio transmitter), they will all respond to the commands from the radio transmitter.
RFS and cell can also be active at the same time.
Alternatively, you can also trigger the flash via the built-in sync socket (wired method).
Tip:
The sync socket is always active.
The sync cables (item no. 34.111.00; 5 m) and (item no. 34.112.00; 10 m) can be plugged into the sync socket for triggering via cable.
More
In this submenu, you can configure Stelos according to your individual preferences. In particular, the home view can either visualise everything at a glance or be very minimalistic.
